Uranus is in my 2nd house.  Uranus rules the sign of Aquarius ; known as the quirky innovator, who likes to shake things up in order to break from restrictions in favor of a more liberated path.

Uranus plays an important role as the provocateur, the bringer of the cosmic wake-up call for both individuals and the collective as a whole. Just when we relax into our comfortable, stable lives, Uranus disrupts the scene. It can be through an event that happens to us, or self-initiated acts spurned on by a desire for change. ~ Quote Credit

Because Uranus has popped a squat in my natal 2nd house of possessions, money (earned income) and values, there exists inside me a small constant nagging that I must “stand out from the crowd”, ” be different and unique”, “shake things up” , ” go my own way”  in order to succeed in the world and maintain a semblance of self-worth.

For many years, I refused to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Instead I worked very hard at being the wolf! The thought of being “just one of the herd” was a long standing belief that I refused to accept as my own truth.

Libra is the Governess of my 2nd house and since Venus (the ruler of Libra) went retrograde on July 25th, these themes and philosophies have begun to creep up and challenge my longstanding inner authoritarian. Suddenly, I have awakened to how this station I have presided in has actually kept me more isolated than I’d like to be. It has kept in a position of always floating and lurking around the outskirts of my family, relationships and even community. My rebel nature viewed any kind of complete integration as a sacrifice of originality.

But, I’m coming to see things in a different light these days.

The gift of Uranus is to set us free when we’ve become too rigid or structured

My desire for individuality, originality, separateness had become to rigid and structured.  I was so disciplined at maintaining the rebel image, ultimately I kept denying my gregarious Libra aspects that were pining for love, relating, and partnerships. I was even denying Uranus’ other themes  of ” for the Whole” and community.

I’m starting to recognize that it is possible to be a sheep amongst goats! Or that being a part of the “herd” is equally as gratifying as standing out from the crowd. It’s all about finding the RIGHT herd to mingle within! Being with your right peeps doesn’t mean you give away your individual identity. In fact, it can actually help boost your personal quirks to a whole new level of innovation!
