“A great portrait is a collaboration between photographer and subject”

— Lauren Lim

Congratulations on investing in your vision !!! If you were sent to this page, that means you have booked your private photography session ! I am so excited to work with you and capture the essence of the intention of your personal images. Below, you will see just a few tips that will help ensure success in our time together.  I tend to shoot both posed and candid images, almost documentary or editorial style. Be sure to communicate with me in advance any visions you have or definite looks or moments you hope to get. However, if you find you have more questions , please feel free to contact me directly HERE!

KIDS

We know kids are bundles of energy with ideas all their own! Be sure your kiddo is well rested and fed prior to your session time. Be sure to bring a change of clothing or two, snacks and a favorite toy in case your little one is in need of comfort.  Come prepared to help encourage your child to be themselves.  It is my goal to capture the personality of your child and not just a cheesy smile!

Location

Location can add a lot of meaning and fun to your photos! Location adds, depth, texture, line and light. I shoot in both natural and urban settings. Open spaces, fields, and treed areas are perfect for that spacious feeling and invites playfulness. Cool alleys, and buildings with texture and variety are great elements to consider. Light is essential and I typically shoot more in the late afternoon/early evening for nice golden light. But, this is YOUR vision and we can work out whatever is best for your schedule.

Clothes

There are no rules when it comes to clothes, what is important is you feel comfortable and authentic. The photo shoot is about you, not what designer you maybe wearing. You don’t need to be “match-y”, but look as if you belong together. Coordinate more with style, personality and location in mind. Try to focus on similar tones, easy on the patterns, and don’t forget to be mindful of socks and shoes! Lay out your outfits together prior to the shoot and see how they “feel” together.

The Session

I approach photo sessions from more of what you might call a documentary/editorial style! I believe in sharing YOUR story, the story of your family and loved ones and capturing those moments that convey your authentic selves in relationship to each other.  Anticipate that there will be times that I set -up a shot and others that I direct a scene and then witness the beauty that comes through as you each engage with the scene and each other. There will be still moments of pause and others with kinetic energy! There is a playfulness to my approach and I am extremely open to feedback and ideas! Be sure to communicate with me in advance any visions you have, specific personality traits I should direct my attention to and definite looks or moments you hope to get. However, if you find you have more questions , please feel free to contact me directly HERE!
